Santa Eulalia
As it was our first time in Ibiza, we decided to spend some time exploring the local hotspots. Santa Eulalia has gorgeous promenades that are stunning on an evening to walk by and plenty of bars and restaurants that, of course, were brimming with locals and tourists watching the World Cup. I loved the Spanish atmosphere of the place because as a family, we love to see lots of locals around instead of just tourists and this spot is definitely a fave for the Spanish. On Sunday, the beaches were packed until 9pm with locals all playing beach volleyball and enjoying the end of the weekend. Though there are plenty of hotels and resorts, you would be missing out big time if you didn't explore all the town has to offer if you come here. Who wants to sit by a pool all day, when the beach is a few metres away?
Puig di Missa
This wonderful hilltop, with breathtaking views of the coast, is a perfect walk for those wanting to explore Santa Eulalia a bit further. It was seen as a retreat for Ibiza's citizens when the place was troubled by pirates and other attackers. A fortified church rests at the top of the hill, and even though it was scorching weather we managed to find the only river in the Balearics that never dries up, and we saw cute lil ducklings!
Ibiza Town
One of the places we really fancied visiting was Ibiza Town, not just for its abundance in culture but because it is such a bustling town full of places to eat and shop - tourist heaven. As usual, we decided on walking around Ibiza Town on a scorching day, but there are plenty of places to get ice cream to cool down. The historical Dalt Vila, a fortified hilltop that provides the inquisitive tourist with many cultural areas to explore, lies at the center of town. There is a gateway that is impossible to miss, and as you head further up, you can take some amazing pics of the cathedral and look down at the town below. The towering defensive walls that surround the city go way back to the 16th Century, which protected citizens from Turkish and Morrish pirate attacks. The Port Area of Ibiza Town struck me immediately by its beauty and we managed to find a glorious spot to look out upon! The number of expensive yachts seriously blew my mind - it's like a millionaire's pad.
